Clare’s unique blend of artistry and passion for nature has resulted in a stunning print that perfectly aligns with Purebaby’s commitment to quality, creativity, and sustainability.

Meet Clare Therese Gray

Clare Therese Gray is a multifaceted artist known for her diverse range of projects. From quilting fabrics and children's dressing up costumes to baby wraps and luxury toiletries, Clare’s portfolio is as varied as it is impressive. She has even lent her artistic touch to children’s books and olive oil packaging. Clare lives a vibrant life on a mixed cattle and arable farm in the UK with her husband, three young children, and two working collie dogs, Hepsie and Kingdom. Together, they enjoy hiking, outdoor crafts, and cooking, especially in the scenic Lake District, an area rich with artistic history as the home of Beatrix Potter.

Clare’s connection to nature is profound. She has worked on organic farms across France, Sicily, and New Zealand, engaging in everything from gardening and vineyard work to cooking and baking. This deep-rooted love for the natural world is evident in her art, as she draws inspiration from her surroundings during walks, hikes, and time spent in gardens.

With a background in painting and a postgraduate degree in Drawing from the Royal Drawing School in London, Clare transitioned to design after working in textile print studios. Her artistic repertoire includes not only flowers but also intricate room illustrations and large abstract interiors. Clare’s creative spirit is always in motion, as she constantly seeks new projects, from hand-pleated block print lampshades to ceramics, a passion so strong she even takes her pottery wheel on holiday!

The Dune Floral Print: Inspired by Coastal Flora

Our collaboration with Clare is the beautiful print she has created, inspired by the flowers found by the seaside and in dunes. Clare’s attention to detail and love for nature shine through in her depiction of daisies, burnet roses, sea lavender, wild thyme, sea bindweed, sea campion, sea kale, marsh marigold, sea thrift, and bell heather. These delicate flowers, each hand-drawn in pencil and painted with gouache, capture the essence of coastal beauty.

Clare’s process involves digitising her hand-painted elements into Photoshop, where she creates repeat patterns that retain the authenticity and vibrancy of her original artwork. This meticulous approach ensures that the personal touch of Clare’s hand and brushstrokes remains visible in each design, adding a layer of warmth and individuality to the print.
